Vodafone India and Idea Cellular merged their mobile businesses in August 2018 to create Vodafone Idea Ltd.
All new postpaid customers will be on-boarded directly to Vodafone RED plans as per their usage and preference.
The change is applicable to enterprise Idea postpaid customers as well.
Both Jio and Idea have continued to maintain their leadership in their respective segment since last several months.
The move comes just days after Idea Cellular and Vodafone India made a joint payment of Rs 7,268.78 crore 'under protest' to the Department of Telecom (DoT) for merging their mobile businesses.
The Department of Telecom gave conditional nod for merger of these companies on July 9 and asked companies to meet the demand raised for taking merger on record.
ATC has already completed acquisition of Vodafone India's mobile tower for Rs 3,850 crore, which added nearly 10,200 to its portfolio.
Subscribers can also avail up to Rs 3,300 cashback on recharges from the Idea website or app as part of Idea's Magic offer.
In 2017, the two companies had announced that they will combine the operations to create the country's largest telecom operator.

Customers will also receive five shopping coupons worth Rs 2,700 which can be used at Idea's partner stores or website on a range of brands
In the next step, both the companies need a final approval from the Department of Telecom.

In a joint statement, the two companies said Idea will sell its entire holding in Idea Cellular Infrastructure Services Ltd (ICISL) while Vodafone will divest its business undertaking to ATC Infra.
The customers can avail the bundled offer at Sony Center and major mobile stores. The pre-booking started from November 5.
The company's market valuation rose by Rs 1,593.6 crore to Rs 28,460.60 crore.
