On Saturday, one body was recovered and another two on Sunday, taking the toll to 58. The State government had earlier announced that it would ensure rehabilitation of the families of the victims.

Few reports said that the water level at Mullaperiyar reservoir in Idukki district has reached 136.85 feet by Tuesday afternoon. The water level has receded in many low-lying areas of Kottayam and Alappuzha districts.

Three days after settlements of estate workers were swept away by devastating landslides at Pettimudi near Rajamala, various agencies engaged in the rescue operations on Sunday recovered 17 bodies.
