Real-Time PAN-Bank Account Linking On Income Tax Portal: The NPCI has also urged all member banks to prioritize the implementation of this service, which is being offered to the Government of India. 

The fact that the ITR filing deadline coincides with a bank holiday does not exclude taxpayers from filing their returns. People need to get serious and immediately submit their returns on the income tax portal.

Parekh mentioned that 3.8 crore users have completed various transactions and that 2-3 lakh returns are getting filed every day. Parekh said the company remains committed to making further progress. Infosys was in 2019 awarded a contract to develop the new filing portal to replace the old one to reduce the processing time from 63 days to one.

The new e-filing portal, www.Incometax.Gov.In, was launched on June 7. Infosys was in 2019 given the contract to develop the portal. Taxpayers have been able to view over 8.74 lakh notices issued by the department.

The Ministry of Finance emphasised that there is a need for putting in more resources and efforts on the part of Infosys so that the much-delayed delivery of agreed services is ensured. Parekh was also sensitised on the difficulties that the taxpayers are facing and the problems that are arising on account of the delays in the functioning of the portal. The Infosys CEO explained that he and his team are doing everything to ensure the smooth functioning of the portal.

The revenue secretary is monitoring this on weekly basis, she said. Infosys was in 2019 awarded a contract to develop the next-generation income tax filing system. The government has so far paid Rs 164.5 crore to Infosys,

The meeting will take place between 11 AM to 1 PM with Infosys (the vendor and its team). The other stakeholders of the meeting would be members from ICAI, auditors, consultants and taxpayers, a statement from the Finance Ministry said. After the launch of the new website on June 7, taxpayers have been complaining about several difficulties like being unable to access the new portal.

The new portal, www.Incometax.Gov.In, was launched last Monday (June 7), with the tax department, as well as the government, saying it was aimed at making compliance more taxpayer-friendly. But users complained of technical issues from the very first day and not everything has been fixed even after a week, chartered accountants (CAs) said. But now the taxpayers will not have the option of the new tax payment system available on the income tax portal at present.
