Speaking at the India Economic Summit here, Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan said the government is fully cognisant of its role to provide an enabling environment and level playing field, but the market developments would require businesses to take their own decisions.

Speaking at the India Economic Summit, he said that huge private investment during the last five years has created a lot of surplus capacity.

Mittal also made the point that while India's digital vision is strong and so is the support to the programme, the states were not showing "the same level of urgency".
