Star actor Ajith Kumar has won four gold and two bronze medals at the Shooting Championship of Tamil Nadu State, which is taking place in Trichy. The stylish South star has won four competitions so far including CFP Master Men team event, 50 metres FP Men team event and STDP Master Men team event. The championship in Trichy begun on July 24 will finish on August 1.
India also bagged three team silver medals in each of the three air rifle events.
As per the proposed rule, quota place allocation will start from the 2018 ISSF World Championship to be held in Changwon, Korea from August 31 to September 14.
Prakash Nanjappa won the gold medal, ahead of compatriots Amanpreet Singh and Jitu Rai today. Prakash shot a total score of 222.4, while Amanpreet and Jitu settled for silver and bronze medals respectively.
Participating in his fifth Olympics, the 33-year-old got off to a good start with scores of 29.9 and 30.2 in the first two series placing him in the top three.
Pooja's team mates Ayonika Paul and Apoorvi Chandela finished 17th and 18th with scores of 413.8 and 413.6 respectively in their qualification rounds.
Thanks to Ayonika's effort, India have equalled the number of quotas it secured ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.
India jumped on top of overall medal standings at 13th Asian Shooting Championship with six more medals.
