A day after Jeakson Singh scored the epic goal -- first by an Indian, Chhetri, who is getting ready for the AFC CUP qualifier against macau could not stop raving about it.

India came agonisingly close to securing their first ever draw, if not a win, in a FIFA tournament when Jeakson Singh Thanoujam's bullet header found the back of the net against Colombia in their second group game of the ongoing U-17 World Cup.

Despite all the brouhaha surrounding India hosting a football World Cup, not many witnessed the historic feat.

India scored in the 80th minute. Midfielder Jeakson Singh had entered history books. India had its first footballer to score in a FIFA World Cup. It almost sent the boys in dreamland, without realising the Colombians had re-started and then, in a flash, restored their lead. Juan Penaloza scored again, his second, and a match-winner at that.

Jeakson's header, which will make even John Terry proud, brought India level at 1-1, but Colombian striker Juan Penaloza scored his second goal soon after re-start to seal the match at 2-1.

Jeakson Singh Thounaojam got his name into history books as the first footballer from India to score a goal in a FIFA World Cup. His header got India back on level terms in the 80th minute, but Colombia restored their lead in a flash in the 82nd through their hero of the match Juan Penaloza.

Both India and Colombia missed out on opening their account with a win in the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Therefore, both will desperately be aiming to bag those crucial three points to stay afloat in the tournament. 

In their maiden World Cup appearance, India were blanked 0-3 by USA on Friday, and the coach was not pleased with the result.

The Amarjit Kiyam-led outfit is expected to produce an improved performance in their second Group A fixture in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Playing in their maiden FIFA tournament, rank outsiders India were outclassed by a side that was a few notches above the 'Boys in Blue'.
