Vice-captain Harmanpreet Singh (11th, 35th, 53rd) scored a hat-trick, while Abhishek (2nd minute), Shamsher Singh (14th), Akashdeep Singh (20th), Jugraj Singh (22nd, 43rd), Nilakanta Sharma (38th), Varun Kumar (39th) and Mandeep Singh (48th) were the other goal getters for India.

India played its best match against Colombia, including India’s historic first ever goal in a FIFA World Cup by Jeakson Singh. But still lost 2-1.

Ghana defeated India 4-0 in their third and final Group A encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Thursday to proceed to the second stage of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Indians gave the strong Ghana outfit a run for their money in the first half and kept them in check until the 43rd minute when visiting skipper Eric Ayiah broke the deadlock.

With still a bleak possibility left in stepping onto the next round of the tournament, the Indian Colts face the Black Starlets, who had lifted the trophy twice in their footballing history.

There is still a marginal hope for India U-17 to qualify for the Round of 16 which also depends on other results to go in their favour. 

Ghana are the most physical side in the group and the two-time former champions will start as clear favourites in today's final Group A match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

With Ghana likely to press hard for a win against India, Colombia would like to win the US encounter rather than wait for the best third-placed result.

A victory over Ghana on Thursday night will be required for the hosts to continue their U-17 World Cup adventure.
