INS Betwa News
Guided missile frigate INS Betwa, which had suffered a mishap at the Naval dockyard in Mumbai in 2016, is expected to join the fleet in the "third quarter" of 2019 with "improved capacity", Vice Admiral Girish Luthra said here Monday.
Indian Navy's missile frigate INS Betwa, which toppled over during undocking in December last year, has been made upright and will be operational before April 2018, an Indian Navy official said.
INS Betwa, undergoing a refit at the dry dock, slipped and toppled over on her side, killing two sailors and injuring 14 naval personnel.
The warship, commissioned in 2004, was undergoing a refit at the dockyard when the accident happened.
India's first indigenously designed and built warship INS Godavari will be decommissioned on Wednesday in Mumbai, 32 years after it was inducted into the Indian Navy.
