The tax benefit has kicked in with effect from July 9, 2025.

The proceeds from these bonds will be utilised exclusively for renewable energy projects capable of servicing debt through their project revenues, without dependence on State Governments for debt servicing, according to the official statement.

The government-owned NBFC’s loan sanctions for the fourth quarter recorded a 27 per cent rise to Rs 47,453 crore while loan disbursements for the quarter rose 20 per cent to Rs 30,168 crore. 

The fund-raising exercise aims to strengthen IREDA’s capital base, enabling the organization to scale its financing for renewable energy projects and further accelerate India’s transition to clean energy.

The agreement paves the way for joint efforts in co-lending and loan syndication for a diverse spectrum of renewable energy projects, it added.

A public sector enterprise under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), IREDA is engaged in the financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

DGCA has taken back two Boeing 737s of SpiceJet under IREDA, although the carrier claims that deregistration will not affect operations.

The company also provides financial assistance for developing infrastructure and other projects targeted towards the government initiatives on renewable energy.

Government auditor CAG has flayed state-run IREDA for "violation of financial guidelines" in connection with Rs 48.65-crore loan to Nagpur-based Purti Sakhar Karkhana for which company's promoters and directors including Nitin Gadkari had given "personal guarantee".
