Three key officers handling files in the Home Ministry related to the alleged fake encounter killing of Ishrat Jahan have deposed before an one-man inquiry committee probing the missing documents of the case.

Senior IPS officer Satish Verma, who was a member of Special Investigating Team (SIT) that probed the Ishrat Jehan case, has been served a show cause notice alleging "misconduct" and "unauthorised absence" from duty.

The Lok Sabha is likely to discuss on Wednesday the raging controversy over the affidavits filed in the Ishrat Jahan encounter killing case when it takes up a calling-attention notice on the issue.

“The file (Ishrat Jahan's case file) never came to me, the allegations are baseless, ANI quoted Shinde as saying. 

The former national security adviser said it is obvious the government affidavits in the Ishrat Jahan case were changed but he does not know the reasons for it.

The matter, which was mentioned for urgent hearing before a bench, will now be heard on March 11, sources said.

BJP also accused Congress of siding with "anti-national" forces "who are out to break the nation".
