The UK faces a severe threat from Islamist terrorism for at least another two years and the danger could increase further, the Home Office has said.

Unless Pakistan increases its efforts to outlaw, eliminate and foil Islamist terrorism on its soil, and also takes appropriate steps to protect the minority Christian community from attacks by fundamental elements such as the ISIS, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and the Taliban, such elements will continue to gain a menacing foothold across the country, an expert based in Islamabad has said.

The killing of a policeman by a suspected Islamist militant pushed national security to the top of the French political agenda on Friday, two days before the presidential election.

 Describing "Islamic extremist terrorism" as the enemy of the US, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has appealed Americans to vote for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to commit themselves to "unconditional victory" against the menace.

"Pakistan's use of extremist and terrorist proxies, including to threaten India, is a significant contributor to the global menace of Islamic extremism", a former top US diplomat said today recommending that Pakistan be listed as a state sponsor of terrorism.
