The Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370. The elections took place in three phases. The counting of votes is set to take place on October 8.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday asked Lok Sabha LoP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, whether he supports the National Conference's demand to bring back Article 370 and Article 35 A and separate flag for Jammu and Kashmir.

On the accusations levelled by Amit Shah that 40 thousand people were killed in Jammu and Kashmir because of the NC and the Congress, the former Jammu and Kashmir CM said that if it's true, let the BJP restore relations with Pakistan.  

Amit Shah said that there is peace along the borders in Jammu and Kashmir as Pakistan fears PM Modi and would not dare to open fire, knowing fully that India’s response will be befitting to silence its guns.

Sachin Pilot expressed confidence and said that the enthusiasm among the workers indicates that the Congress-NC alliance will get a clear mandate in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the EC, the tentative voter turnout for the 24 assembly seats spread over seven districts stood at 59 per cent. This figure may go up slightly as some of the polling stations are located in remote areas of the Pir Panjal Mountain range.  

Approx 23 lakh voters are going to vote for 19 candidates in phase 1, including 90 independents, contesting for 24 assembly constituencies.

Earlier this week, Ajaz Guru filed his nomination to contest the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
