Malik was released from Srinagar central jail on Friday.

Police arrested Malik in Druggen area after the Friday prayers when Malik came out of a mosque to lead the march towards the headquarters of the UN Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) in Sonawar area.

This is for the first time since the rise of militancy in Kashmir in the early 1990s that a central probe agency has carried out raids in connection with funding separatists.

Yasin Malik was on Wednesday released from Srinagar Central Jail.

Ahead of Friday`s separatist called protest here, authorities on Thursday placed Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq under house arrest and arrested JKLF leader Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifted to jail.

The separatists have called for boycotting the upcoming by-elections in Anantnag constituency from where Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is contesting.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday dubbed the Kashmiri separatists as 'Pakistani agents' and blamed them for creating a disorder in Jammu and Kashmir after they conducted a meeting on the Sainik colony issue.

The arrests come on the eve of a joint shutdown called by the pro-freedom leaders including Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani, Malik and Mirwaiz.
