 Portugal's Joao Sousa prevailed in a fire-fight with immensely-talented Emil Ruusuvuori in the summit clash of the Tata Open Maharashtra to clinch his first ATP singles title since May 2018 and fourth overall, here on Sunday.

Portugal`s Joao Sousa drew on his experience to end Elias Ymers sensational run at the 2022 Tata Open Maharashtra with a remarkable three-set win to enter the singles final at the Balewadi Stadium here on Saturday.

Top seed Daniil Medvedev crashed out of the Rotterdam Open on Wednesday, losing to 104th-ranked Canadian Vasek Pospisil, who marched into the last 16 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. 

Nick Kyrgios made an unsavoury exit from the tournament. 

Top seed John Isner suffered a 7-6(3) 7-6(5) defeat at the hands of fellow American Taylor Fritz in the second round of the Auckland Classic on Wednesday.

The American saved three match points in a tight contest before the Portugal-born Sousa prevailed in a little less than two hours. 

Experience was more than a match for youthful exuberance at the Auckland Classic on Monday as four-time champion David Ferrer beat Chinese teenager Wu Yibing 7-6(7) 6-4 to advance to the second round.

The 13th-seeded Del Potro needed just an hour and two minutes to register a 6-2, 6-2 win over the Portuguese.

Second seed Milos Raonic of Canada won the ATP Saint Petersburg Open, beating Portuguese seventh seed Joao Sousa 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in Sunday`s final.
