The legendary Sachin Tendulkar has lavished praise on former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes by calling him the best fielder of inside the 30-yard circle. Rhodes is the current fielding coach of Kings XI Punjab and is widely considered to be the greatest fielder in the history of the game. The duo engaged in a Twitter banter following KXIP player Nicholas Pooran’s phenomenal fielding effort on the boundary line – which created a media frenzy. Pooran saved a certain six runs against his side.

Rhodes has appeared in 245 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 52 Tests for South Africa, amassing a total of 8,467 runs across the two formats. Following his retirement after an injury during 2003 ICC World Cup, Rhodes had short coaching stints with the Proteas, Kenya and Sri Lanka. The former South African cricketer has also served as the fielding coach of various Indian Premier League (IPL) for many years.

Rhodes made his international debut for South Africa with a One-Day International (ODI) match against Australia in February 1992.
