Julius Dorphang was sentenced for his involvement in the rape of a minor girl.
The victim was reportedly a student of a school run by a social organization that was founded by Dorphang.
The incident came to light after the victim's parents filed a complaint with the police.

Dorphang, who is lodged in Shillong jail and facing trial in the case of raping a 14-year-old girl, was appointed a member of the Committee of Privileges and the Committee on Subordinate Legislation.
