Assam police nabbed two schoolchildren from eastern Assam's Tinsukia district on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in planting the four bombs that went off on the morning of Independence Day in Tinsukia and Charaideo districts, the police said on Wednesday.

As incidents of minors involved in road accidents rising, the government is contemplating to bring a proposal, which would ensure punishment for parents of children who are caught driving.

The victim, who belongs to scheduled caste, was allegedly gang-raped by G Srinivas and a 17-year-old teenager. 

Under the Act, those aged between 16 and 18 years will cease to get protection under the juvenile law and will be tried as adults if they commit heinous crimes.
