Havertz, who joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen for 71 million pounds, started both of his side`s Premier League games against Brighton and Hove Albion and Liverpool. Ross Barkley further stretched Frank Lampard`s side`s advantage early in the second period before Havertz, 21, struck twice in the space of 10 minutes to complete his treble.

Chelsea have signed Germany`s highly-rated attacking midfielder Kai Havertz from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed but British media reported the fee for the 21-year-old was in the region of 71 million pounds ($94.34 million). Havertz, who had two years left on his Leverkusen contract, scored 46 goals with 31 assists in 150 games for the German club.

The Germans, knocked out of the World Cup in the group stage and relegated in the Nations League last year, had only one player from their 2014 World Cup victory in the starting line-up and their oldest outfield player was aged 24.
