Crucial bilateral talks between India, Nepal to be held this week. Nepal PM says recent high-level visits from India and China were goodwill ones. Nepalese FM Pradeep Gyawali is scheduled to visit New Delhi on Jan 14.

The Opposition Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) decided to sack Sarita Giri for breaching the party whip to withdraw her amendment registered at the Parliament Secretariat against the Nepal government's second amendment to the Constitution.

Nepalese Parliament recently adopted a new political map of the country showing these areas as part of its own territory, a move strongly opposed by India.

Nepal’s President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Thursday ratified the Constitution Amendment Bill, shortly after it was unanimously endorsed by the National Assembly for changing the political map of Nepal to include Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura.

Speaking on the Indo-Nepal border issue, the Defence Minister also said that the road built by BRO in Lipulekh is very much in Indian territory. 

Vinesh Kumar, a 22-year-old Indian farmer from Bihar's Sitamarhi was killed and two others were injured in indiscriminate firing by the Nepal police at the India-Nepal border on June 12. 

The Lower House of Nepal's Parliament on Saturday unanimously voted to amend the Constitution to update the country's new political map, laying claim over the strategically key areas of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura along the border with India.

The ties between the two countries came under strain after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a 80-KM-long strategically crucial road connecting the Lipulekh pass with Dharchula in Uttarakhand on May 8.

Reacting to the map, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said that the unilateral action is not based on historical facts and evidence. 

The government of Nepal on Wednesday officially issued a new controversial map of the country which shows Indian territories of Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura as its own. The map was unveiled by the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives & Poverty Alleviation.

On May 18, the Nepal Cabinet endorsed a new controversial map of the country claiming Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura under the territories of Nepal.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian made the remarks at a media briefing here while replying to questions on India-Nepal differences over the border and Indian Army chief Gen. MM Naravane's remarks that Kathmandu was objecting to the newly built road by India at the behest of "someone else".

Last week Nepali President addressing the joint session of the Parliament said new maps of the country will be published that will show all areas it considers as its own. 

Doklam is a disputed region between China and Bhutan. The dispute arose after Indian troops stopped the Chinese Army from building a road in the region in mid-June.

Three suspected operatives of banned insurgent group NSCN (K) have been apprehended and arms and ammunition seized by the police from the Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh.
