Karnataka has only last year formulated new Act exclusively to govern Bengaluru Civic Body - Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and as a result of this, the elections for this biggest civic body was postponed till the process of ward delimitation was completed.

BJP president Amit Shah today thanked voters in Karnataka for their "continued support" for the party after results of the local body elections were announced and claimed that the outcome highlighted people's dissatisfaction against the "unholy alliance" between the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress.

Counting of votes for elections for three city corporations, 29 city municipal councils, 52 town municipal councils and 20 Town Panchayats took place on Monday.

The polling has begun at 7 am and it will continue till 5 pm.
