The decision to this effect was taken after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai chaired a review meeting on the COVID situation via video conferencing in Bengaluru.
The night curfew has been extended till January 19 and weekend curfew is also being imposed as a preventive measure to check the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Regarding extending the night curfew or imposing tough rules, he said it would be decided on either on Monday or Tuesday. "We have to see how the present coronavirus situation is. We saw it increasing in a big way in Bengaluru. We will take a call keeping that in mind," he said.
Bommai informed that those arriving from the countries where the Omicron variant was found are being screened at the airports.

Karnataka government on Saturday announced further easing of COVID-induced lockdown curbs in 19 of 31 districts from Monday.

The Karnataka government led by BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday (June 15) extended COVID-19 restrictions in Bengaluru under section 144 which prohibits assembly of more than 4 people in public places until June 21. The development comes a day after traffic snarls returned to the IT Capital city as the lockdown was being relaxed in 19 districts after more than a month.

This comes a day after traffic issues returned to the IT capital city as the lockdown began implementing relaxations in 19 districts after more than a month.
The BS Yediyurappa-led Karnataka government had imposed statewide stringent restrictions on April 27 to contain the spread of COVID-19 infections.
The relaxations will be in force till June 21 after which revised guidelines may be issued depending on the COVID-19 situation in these districts.
The Karnataka government released detailed guidelines for the 11 districts in the state with a high positivity rate.
The 11 districts which will remain under lockdown includes Chikmagalur, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru rural, Mandya, Belagavi and Kodagu.
