Voting is underway for the Karnataka Legislative Council from two graduates and an equal number of teachers' constituencies
The ruling BJP and the principal opposition Congress have fielded one candidate each in all the four constituencies
A total of 49 candidates are in the fray for the biennial elections, including four women

The BJP announced its candidates for the biennial election to the Karnataka Legislative Council which is to be held on June 3
The party has denied its MLC ticket to the son of former Chief Minister of the state and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa

With these results, BJP's strength in the 75-member 'Upper House' has gone up from 32 to 37, while the Congress' tally declined from 29 to 26, and the JD(S)' numbers came down from 12 to 10.
