While the year-to-year agriculture GVA (Gross Value Addition) growth for the July-September quarter of 2017-18 dropped to 1.7 percent from 4.1 percent, measured on basic prices, the fall looks quite sharp at current prices from 10 percent to 3.7 percent.
New Delhi: The government has procured 1.11 lakh tonnes of pulses so far from farmers for creating buffer stock and also contracted to import 38,500 tonnes as part of its effort to control the retail prices.
Much to the discomfort of consumers, retail prices of key pulses and onions have risen sharply in most parts of the country in view of likely shortfall in kharif production of lentils following deficient rains.
