The module is said to be linked to banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). The J&K Police issued a statement in which it said that they have arrested four terror associates of LeT who were running the grenade throwing module.

Meanwhile, lights have been installed in the area and all entry and exit points are sealed so that trapped terrorists can’t escape taking advantage of darkness. Furthermore, mobile Internet services are suspended in the Sopore area as a precautionary measure.

The NIA had re-registered the case after taking over the investigation on April 5, 2020 and had already filed a chargesheet against Parveen under various sections of the stringent UA(P) Act.

Singh said the major success was achieved on Friday evening, following a well-coordinated joint operation by police and 38 Rashtriya Rifles in Rajouri sector of Jammu region, frustrating Pakistan's design to step up violence and disturb the prevailing peace in the Union Territory.
The accused, Dr Sabeel Ahmed, who worked at a hospital in Saudi kingdom, is the younger brother of aeronautical engineer Kafeel Ahmed who was involved in the 2007 suicide attack at Glasgow airport in Scotland in the UK. His mission had failed and he died on August 2 after their bombs went off.
According to the chargesheet, Singh had been in constant touch with his handlers in the Pakistan High Commission who have since been repatriated to Islamabad.
Ahmed had moved from Bengaluru to Saudi Arabia in 2010-11. He was also arrested in connection with the 2007 attack in which a person died, said an NIA official requesting anonymity.
A police spokesperson told PTI that Ali Bhai was instrumental in receiving members of various infiltrating terror groups and was also involved in recruiting local youngsters for militant outfits.
