Sqn Ldr Mohana Singh was part of the first three women to become fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force. During the historical flight, Sqn Ldr Mohana could be seen instructing the Army and Navy Vice Chiefs on the flight in the LCA Tejas fighter jet.

The swing-role AMCA will be capable of achieving supersonic cruise speed. The initial cost of the project will be Rs 15,000 crore. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took a sortie in Tejas showing the world the capabilities of India's defence prowess. PM Modi shared the photos on X saying that the flight experience was incredibly enriching. Earlier in April this year, President Droupadi Murmu had taken a sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft. Under Modi Government, an order worth Rs 36,468 Crore for delivery of 83 LCA Mk 1A aircraft has been placed with HAL and delivery is scheduled to begin by February 2024. More than Rs 9,000 Crore have been sanctioned for the development of LCA Mk 2, an updated and more lethal version of LCA Tejas. 

LCA Tejas, HAL made fighter jet is attracting significant attention at Aero India 2023 and reports suggest it has got the interest of Argentina and Malaysia for import, reports IANS.

As part of the aviation trials, the landing of LCA (Navy) and MiG-29K onboard INS Vikrant was carried out on 06 February 2023 by Indian Naval Test Pilots. 

The five-year contract spanning from 2023 to 2028 is valued at Rs 2,400 crore. The deal involves supplying critical avionics Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), flight control computers and night flying LRUs. Deliveries under 83 Tejas Mk1A order to IAF will commence from 2023-24.

The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas showcased "superior flying skills" at the Dubai Air Show on Sunday. The air show kicked off at Al Maktoum airport in Dubai.

The LCA is equipped with critical operational capabilities of AESA Radar, Beyond Visual Range Missile, Electronic Warfare Suite and Air to Air Refuelling It would be a potent platform to meet the operational requirements of IAF, which has already inducted a batch of Tejas aircraft as part of its initial order of 40 jets

The approval is in addition to an earlier deal to purchase 40 of the combat aircraft The indigenously-made jets are set to join the Indian Air Force fleet over the course of the next six to seven years

The IAF has almost 900 combat aircraft in it inventory while the total aeroplanes in active service with the force number over 1720. The Russian Sukhoi Su-30MKIs form the backbone of IAF fighter fleet and the force flies 272 of the twin-seater, twin-engine multirole combat aircraft.

In future, the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire 450 fighter aircraft for deployment on the northern and western frontiers of the country, Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria said on Monday.

Indian Air Force (IAF) is a step closer to getting a fully combat-ready indigenous supersonic fighter with the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas in Final Operational Clearance-standard (SP-21) making its first successful test flight in Bengaluru on Tuesday (March 17, 2020). Tejas FOC(SP-21), piloted by former Indian Air Force (IAF) Air Commodore and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Chief Test Flying (Fixed Wing) KA Muthana (retired), was in the air for 40 minutes.

Indian Navy and Indian Air Force (IAF) has the Israeli Derby BVRAAM in their arsenal and the Tejas developed for the air force has already test-fired and integrated the missile.

Calling it "a seminal achievement", the Ministry of Defence stated, "Being a pioneering technology acquisition and demonstration program for the unique Short Take-Off but Arrested Recovery (STOBAR) concept of aircraft operations, the LCA (Navy) team has had to conceptualise and experiment with complex software modes from a clean slate. All this had to be done while tentatively exploring and incrementally expanding the structural capabilities of the aircraft to withstand the brutal requirements of carrier operations."  

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Tejas is a multi-role fighter with several critical capabilities and it will strengthen the air defence capabilities of the country.
