Lionel Messi ban News
Lionel Messi was cautioned in the 10th minute of the second half extra time after Argentina surrendered a late equaliser to tie the game at 2-2, forcing the game into extra time.
Argentine football chief Armando Perez conceded that Messi "made a mistake", but argued that FIFA`s sanction was disproportionate.
Messi did not travel to FIFA headquarters in Zurich for the hearing but Spanish media said he would make his defence in a video conference call.
Messi was suspended on Tuesday after FIFA said he had "directed insulting words at an assistant referee" during their 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Chile on Thursday.
