India entered its fifth phase of lockdown on Monday ( June 1, 2020) which happens to be completely different from the previous lockdown as it comes with several relaxations and therefore being referred as Unlock 1. Several state governments on Sunday came up with 'Unlock 1' guidelines including allowing inter-state travel while extending the lockdown till June 30 with relaxations.

The government allowed functioning of tea gardens, jute mills, MSME industries, including mining activities, with 100 per cent strength of workers, with effect from June 1.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday (May 30) announced an extension of the nationwide lockdown for the next two weeks till June 30, but along with phase-wise relaxations in restrictions like reopening of hotels and schools in non-containment zones. The gradual relaxations in lockdown restrictions will be put in effect in three phases.

The government will take a decision on the resumption of its services in the third phase, based on the assessment of the situation.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday (May 30) issued fresh guidelines for phased re-opening of all activities outside containment zones for the next one month, till June 30. On the other hand, non-containment zones can open in a phased manner.

As the time nears for the lockdown 4.0 to end, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday night spoke to all chief ministers, and sought their opinion on the extension of the ongoing nationwide lockdown beyond May 31.
