World's premier space agency NASA has said that earth's protective layer is in danger and a massive chunk of the layer has weakened thus causing a dent in the shield of earth. The phenomenon is called South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) and NASA said that it is splitting into two and getting wider with the passage of time. The SAA has been named after its location over South America and Southern Atlantic Ocean.

A team of researchers at the University of Leeds and University of California at San Diego have found that changes in the direction of the magnetic field of Earth can hapen 10 times faster than previously thought.

But a recent study reveals that this arrangement of magnetic fields was not always the same. Ancient earth had multiple poles that suddenly appeared across the globe causing planet's magnetic field behave erratically.

The sun is made of plasma, a gas-like state of matter in which electrons and ions have separated, creating a super-hot mix of charged particles.

Using a technique similar to medical ultrasound, astrophysicists have for the first time developed a way to determine the presence of strong magnetic fields deep inside pulsating giant stars.
