The extradition trial, which opened at the London court on December 4 last year, is aimed at laying out a prima facie case of fraud against Mallya.

The 62-year-old former Kingfisher Airline boss, has been on bail on an extradition warrant since his arrest in April last year.

Vijay Mallya is wanted in India on charges of Rs 9,000 crores fraud. Mallya watched the proceedings from behind a glass-windowed dock. He has been out on bail since Scotland Yard executed an extradition warrant in April this year.

The 61-year-old businessman, who has been in self-imposed exile in the UK since March 2016 when he left India, is wanted in India on charges relating to his defunct Kingfisher Airlines defaulting on loans from various Indian banks amounting to Rs 9,000 crore.

India has given an additional set of papers to the UK in the extradition case of fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya even as the British court hearing the case observed slow pace of submission of the documents by Indian authorities.

The Home Ministry on Friday said there was no delay in providing to the British authorities the evidence against liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who is facing an extradition case in London, and the CBI had sent all documents to the External Affairs Ministry last week.

Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh on Tuesday said all necessary steps have been taken to bring back embattled tycoon Vijay Mallya from the UK but, "as of now", no timeframe can be specified for his extradition.
