On November 20, the former Bihar Minister surrendered before a Begusarai court which then sent her to one-day police remand.

Her surrender comes more than a week after the Supreme Court pulled up Bihar Police for its failure to arrest her in the Arms Act case.

An FIR was registered against Verma and her husband after the CBI recovered arms and ammunition from her residence during raids in connection with the Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual assault case.
The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up Bihar Police for its failure to arrest former Bihar social welfare minister Manju Verma over recovery of ammunitions from her home.
Manju Verma had stepped down as the Social Welfare Minister in the Bihar government after there were allegations that her husband had spoken to prime accused Brajesh Thakur several times between January and June this year.
The top court also asked Bihar government and CBI as to why Chandeshwar Verma, husband of former social welfare minister Manju Verma, has not been arrested so far.
The CBI had conducted raids at 12 locations, including Manju Verma's residences, on August 17 and had seized at least 50 cartridges.
The former Bihar Welfare Department Minister submitted her resignation on August 8 in connection with the Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual assault case.
The official website of the Bihar Social Welfare Department promptly replaced the name and photograph of Manju Verma with that of Krishnandan Verma.
More than 40 girls had been lodged at the shelter home and medical reports suggest that over half of them may have had sexual intercourse at some point of time.
