Seven Maoists, including CPI (Maoist) leader Kursam Mangu, were killed in a gunfight with Telangana Police in Mulugu district.
The two maoists were carrying bounty of Rs 4 lakh each on their heads and were killed near Jal Mahadev temple in Khaprakol area in Gandhamardan hills in Odisha
"Our force is present at the site but the police are conducting the operation," an official said.
Police retaliated and the gunfight lasted for nearly an hour before rebels broke off and retreated into the deep jungles.
Self-styled Kalinganagar divisional committee secretary Susil Lingo and his wife Sony were killed in the gunfight with the Special Operations Group and Odisha Police.
