Pune Bandh On Thursday: The bandh in parts of Pune has been called in response to a recent incident of a police lathi-charge on fasting activists demanding Maratha reservation in Jalna.
Pune district police will deploy three companies of the State Reserve Police Force and a team of the Rapid Action Force in sensitive areas during the protest by the Maratha Kranti Morcha.
The traffic will be halted during the hours when the bandh is observed. The decision to hold protests has been left with the District coordination committee.The protest is scheduled to be held from sunrise to sunset.
MKM is the umbrella body of Maratha groups demanding 16% reservation under the OBC category.
The Marathas will get reservation in Maharashtra after the requisite legal process is completed, said CM Fadnavis.
There have been reports of stone pelting and lathicharge from many places across Maharashtra as Maratha protests continue to keep the entire state on the edge.
So far, five Maharashtra MLAs have resigned over the Maratha reservation issue.
