A pregnant woman belonging to Mayurbhanj district in Odisha died due to severe labour pain after the ambulance in which she was being shifted to a hospital ran out of fuel.

The villagers tied him to a tree and beat him up, following which he confessed to have raping and killing the girl.

Odisha Police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly attempting to rape his daughter-in-law.

A widow was allegedly forcibly taken away from her house in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district and gang-raped, police said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the woman who was lynched yesterday by a mob, has been identified as Basanti Mohanta (48) of village Anla of Mayurbhanj district, he said.
