The controversy surrounding Hindi was reignited by Rajya Sabha MP and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko on Monday after he raised objection over the use of the language in Parliament.

MDMK chief Vaiko on Sunday gave an interview to a daily where he said that the use of Hindi in Parliament had brought down the standard of debates in the House.

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko was on Friday convicted in connection with a sedition case of 2009 by a special court in Chennai, which sentenced him to one year in jail.

The Centre said that there was no intention to impose any language on anyone.
