Meghalaya Assembly Election Result 2023 Highlights:  Out of 59 assembly constituencies, the National People's Party (NPP) secured 26 seats and emerge as the single largest party in the state however it could not attain majority in the assembly polls.

Meghalaya and Nagaland each voted for 59 of 60 assembly constituencies in the state on Monday (February 27). While Meghalaya recorded 64 per cent voter turnout Nagaland had over 82% polling.

Polling in the northeastern states of Meghalaya and Nagaland started at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm, while the results will be declared on March 2.

The BSF seized over 20 lakh rupees cash in two separate operations in the past 48 hours ahead of the assembly elections in Meghalaya.

Over 21 lakh people will be eligible to elect their representatives from 369 candidates including 36 women.
