The Meghalaya Assembly, with 59 members, will have its first sitting on Monday and the pro-tem speaker will administer the oath of office to the new legislators.
NPP legislators, Ferlin Sangma and Benedic Marak, and TMC's HM Shangpliang submitted their resignations to Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh during the day, which got accepted around two hours later.
Governor Tathagata Roy will address the first day of the session, they said.
Sangma, who won the by-election from South Tura, said he had submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
Congress is in power in the state, where it has 29 MLAs in the 60-member House.
Dorphang, who is lodged in Shillong jail and facing trial in the case of raping a 14-year-old girl, was appointed a member of the Committee of Privileges and the Committee on Subordinate Legislation.
Sangma, introducing the resolution, alleged that the notification was "designed to affect" the people of the north-east in general and Meghalaya in particular.
