According to the information, while eating her meal, a girl student noticed a dead lizard in her plate. She alerted the caretaker, and all 65 students were asked to stop eating and were quickly taken to the hospital.

Around 50 students of a primary school in Bihar's Sitamarhi were hospitalised on Tuesday after they fell ill after consuming their mid-day meal

According to a student of the school, they had tomato rice and groundnut chutney for breakfast and chicken curry and sambar for lunch, after which they threw up and came down with Diarrhoea.

Around 30 students of a primary school in Mayureswar block in West Bengal's Birbhum district fell ill after consuming food in which a snake was allegedly found.

Mid-day meal in West Bengal: Students are currently given rice, pulses, vegetables, soybean and eggs in schools as part of mid-day meals. An amount of Rs 20 will be spent per week on providing additional nutrition to every student, and the process will continue for 16 weeks, according to the January 3 notification.

200 students have fallen sick after consuming mid-day meals at a school in Bihar's Bhagalpur. When the children complained about the lizard in food, teacher scolded them and said that it was a brinjal and not a lizard. Students alleged that they were forcefully fed the food by the school authorities.

 An enquiry committee comprising 3 officials was formed which will submit a report within 2 days about the contamination of food, reported ANI.

Vice President on Monday suggested that milk could be given either as part of breakfast or the mid-day meal in order to improve the nutritional levels of children. Venkaiah Naidu spoke to the Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani in this regard and made this suggestion. The Minister assured the Vice President that the central government would consider recommending to all the States to include milk in the mid-day meal scheme.

The incident took place on Wednesday at the Gargavan Zilla Parishad Primary School.

A huge number of people had gathered in Bulandshahr for the three-day Ijtiba, being held at a distance from site of violence. But the main road, near the school, was packed with vehicles and people heading to the congregation.

"All the hundred students have recovered and are back to school," Koderma Superintendent of Police M Tamilvanan told reporters.

The children complained of vomiting and lost consciousness. The police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
