The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2015, was passed by the Rajya Sabha earlier today and later approved by the Lok Sabha within 20 minutes.
The Bill was passed by 117 members voting in favour and 69 against it, after Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar moved it for passage.
The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2015, seeking to introduce the system of auction of mines to enhance transparency in mineral allocations was passed in Rajya Sabha on Friday.
The TMC, AIADMK and BSP have announced support for the Mines and Minerals Bill, scheduled to be taken up in the Rajya Sabha Friday.
