This new digital ID will appear to be in the form of a one-of-a-kind number, similar to the Aadhaar card number. The Federal Digital Identity appears to be a one-stop shop for storing Central and State-related ID information. The suggested framework, according to the paper, intends to create a new digital architecture that is "interconnected and interoperable."

WhatsApp has been given a strict warning by challenging it with legal action from the government which if decoded means that the government of India will leave no stone unturned to pursue all legal actions at hand. The exchange of talks started between WhatsApp and the IT Ministry started in January 2021. With repeated government warnings and impending court cases, WhatsApp is not in a very good position to implement the latest privacy policy.

Digital platforms said they have received the latest advisory. A notice issued in this regard by the IT ministry states that a "false statement" is being circulated online that implies that an 'Indian variant' of coronavirus is spreading across the countries. The social media platforms have been asked to "remove all the content that names, refers to, or implies 'Indian variant' of coronavirus from your platform immediately".

The Parliamentary Committee on Information Technology, headed by BJP Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur, had issued summons to Twitter through a letter sent on February 1.

The government had written to WhatsApp asking the messaging platform to stop the spread of false messages on its platform.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on Wednesday said it has asked 21 smartphone makers across the world -- of which majority are Chinese -- to share the security procedures and processes they have undertaken to ensure security of mobile phone devices.

According to the details given by the minister, the number of cases of fraud involving credit cards, ATM/Debit cards and internet banking during 2015-16 was 16,468 and 13,653 in 2016-17.
