Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has assured that his government will notify land pooling policy, once the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections is over.

"Selection of smart cities is a first step. Major challenge is to provide quality urban services such as 24X7 water supply, sanitation, drainage, solid waste management and sewage treatment.

The stake sale would be subject to the approval of the Government of India, which holds 90 per cent equity in the National Buildings Construction Corporation.

"The detailed guidelines of the project, aiming at recasting the urban landscape, is likely to be notified next week after its finalisation," a senior ministry official said.

The 'Smart Cities', proposed to be created across the country, should be hubs of economic activity in tune with the 21st century and planning should visualize "urban-dependent" population in addition to the urban populace, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Monday.
