The Congress has accused EAM Swaraj of misleading the nation over Indians killed in Iraq.
For verification of bodies, the DNA samples of their relatives were sent to Baghdad and four state governments - Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar - were involved in the process.

In a letter to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has requested for financial assistance to the families of those killed by 39 Indians.

Sushma Swaraj has met the families of the 39 persons around a dozen times since they were abducted in June 2014.
Sushma Swaraj added that the Iraqi Foreign Minister would be visiting India on July 24 and will provide further information.
The families said they had last heard from the men on June 14, 2014, when they all called home to say they were being taken away by ISIS fighters.
