A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar directed all municipal corporations, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Cantonment Board to take precautionary steps to stop the infestation of mosquitoes.
NGT's directive came while hearing a case related to the rising menace of Chikungunya and Dengue.

Chikungunya is a viral disease spread by the Aedes mosquito, which is also the carrier of dengue. It's symptoms include fever and acute joint pains.
The dengue outbreak seems to have plateaued in the second week of November with about 280 cases of the disease reported in the national capital, which was this year faced with its worst outbreak of the vector-borne fever since 1996.
With nearly 1,850 fresh dengue cases reported in the last one week, the total number of people down with the vector-borne fever in the city this year has mounted to 12,531.
The Centre on Saturday issued a fresh advisory to Delhi government to "intensify" measures to check the breeding of mosquitoes after experts warned that the dengue situation may worsen in the wake of fresh showers in the national capital.
