A draft legislation to amend the Motor Vehicles Act to impose stiffer penalties on traffic rules violations and to protect the Good Samaritans from legal harassment was passed by the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Government expects the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2016, to be cleared by Parliament in the upcoming Winter Session, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said today.
The Motor Vehicles Bill will soon be sent to the Cabinet and government is planning to introduce it in Parliament during the ongoing winter session, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said on Friday.
