Mahendra Singh Dhoni, known as "Captain Cool," is celebrating his 44th birthday on Monday, July 7. After leading India to three ICC titles - ODI World Cup, the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, Dhoni retired from international cricket nearly five years ago but his presence in the sport remains as influential as ever. Watson, who spent three seasons at Chennai and was the player of the match in the 2018 final, was in praise of how Dhoni stood up in the Qualifier 1 against the Delhi Capitals on Monday. In a chase of 173, Dhoni applied finishing touches with an unbeaten 18 off just six balls to take his team to the final.  

Dhoni, shockingly, was removed as RPS captain on Februrary 19.

Leading India A recently in his last match as captain, Dhoni smashed unbeaten 68 runs off just 40 balls, but ended up losing the match by three wickets.

While many believe Dhoni stepped down as captain earlier than expected, he said it was the right time and nothing would have changed had he decided to do so after ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Recalling his tenure as the captain, Dhoni said he enjoyed the journey of leading the team in the last ten years.

MS Dhoni gave up limited-overs captaincy after leading Men in Blue in 199 ODIs and 72 T20Is.

Having been an integral part of the Dhoni-led World Cup winning teams (2007 and 2011), Yuvraj was very respectful of his contribution to Indian cricket as a player and a captain.

Verma claimed that the Captain Cool was hurt after being asked about his "future cricketing plans".
