The Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday extended the summer vacation in schools, educational institutions in Kashmir Valley in the wake of protests over killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant. 

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday filed her nomination papers for Anantnag assembly constituency by-elections in south Kashmir, which had fallen vacant after the death of her father and then Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.

Senior BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir will meet the party high command in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the political situation in the state after PDP president Mehbooba Mufti sought assurances on the agenda of alliance with the BJP.

Three CRPF jawans were injured in a grenade attack on Wednesday carried out by militants on security forces in Mominabad in Anantnag district.
