Mukkabaaz was released on January 12, 2018, clashing with Saif Ali Khan starrer Kaalakaandi, a dark comedy.
Anurag Kashyap's upcoming film, "Mukkabaaz" has been given a U/A certificate by the CBFC and the director says he is grateful to censor board chief Prasoon Joshi for a "reasonable, rational and empowering experience".
Kashyap, who is helming the Anand L. Rai produced Manmarziyan, said: "Now we are busy with the promotion and release of Mukkabaaz. From January 13, we will start focusing on 'Manmarziyan'."
Release of "Mukkabaaz" will be the end of an arduous journey for lead actor Vineet Kumar Singh, who also debuts as a feature film writer with the sports romance.
Newcomer Zoya Hussain had harboured the dream of directing Anurag Kashyap in a film but the project took a backseat as the duo came together for her Bollywood debut, "Mukkabaaz".
'Mukkabaaz' is scheduled to hit the screens on January 12, 2017.
The 45-year-old filmmaker says 1960s saw films by Bimal Roy and Hrishikesh Mukherji, who highlighted social problems in their films.
Mukkabaaz deals with the deep-rooted casteism which stands tall on the shoulders of corruption even today.
"Our film is about boxing, so we have to be honest to our story, it is about where do boxers come from, what is the status of boxing in society and the like."
