The movement of suburban trains on Central Railway in Mumbai will be hit on Sunday (January 5) due to a five-hour mega block on the Main and Harbour lines. The mega block is a routine exercise which is undertaken to carry out maintenance work.
Local train services on Central and Harbour line will be affected on Sunday (December 29) due to the train blocks, i.e maintenance works of rail racks being carried out by Central Railways.
The maintenance works of rail racks and other related works by Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) will affect the suburban train services in Mumbai on Sunday (December 22).
According to Indian Railways, the Central Railway is scheduled to carry out a mega block on the main and harbour lines, while a jumbo block will be condcted between Borivali and Goregaon by the Western Railway from 10:35 am to 15:35 pm.
According to Central Railway, the crowd in suburban trains would be more than usual due to the mega block.
In its advisory, the IRCTC has asked the commuters to avoid routes where maintenance work will be carried out in order to avoid convenience.
Harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via mainline and Transharbour line from 10 am to 4.30 pm.
Nearly 205 local trains and 23 long-distance trains have been cancelled for the said period, it said.
