NIRF Ranking 2023: The Education Ministry said that the rankings are 'vital' for evaluating the 'quality' of educational programs offered by higher education institutions in colleges and universities in India.

IIM Ahmedabad, which was ranked number 1 under the Management category in NIRF 2018 and 2017, settled at the second spot in the latest rankings

This is the first time that the NIRF ranked institutes in the architecture category. Along with architecture, medical colleges and law colleges were also ranked by the ministry for the first time. 

While the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bengaluru was adjudged the overall best institution in the country, IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad topped in the engineering category and management categories respectively.

The Human Resource and Development (HRD) Ministry on Tuesday released the rankings for 2018. 

IIT Ropar has made improvement in the parameter of Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) as per the India Rankings 2017 published conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The institutions which fared well in the annual national rankings announced by the HRD Ministry will be provided with more funding, enhanced autonomy and other benefits, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Monday.

  Kanhaiya Kumar has said that it was "ridiculous" that Jawaharlal Nehru University has been ranked number 3 in the country by the Union HRD Ministry.
