The suspense around what role Ashish Nehra will take up following his retirement ended on Tuesday when Star Sports revealed that the former India pacer will team up with Virender Sehwag in the commentary box during the India-Sri Lanka Test series.

Curtains on Ashish Nehra's 18-year career came down the way every sportsperson dreams of - on his home ground, playing for his country and winning. It happened in first T20I of the three-match series between India and New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Wednesday and was followed by what's become a celebratory ritual these days - the 'cake-smash' party. 

After bidding goodbye to cricket on Wednesday, Nehra has not yet decided on life after cricket, though he has narrowed down the options to coaching and commentary.

Ashish Nehra played his last competitive cricket match on Wednesday as he bid the game adieu in the first T20I of the series against New Zealand at his home ground here at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. And while he took the lap of honour alongside the team, Yuvraj Singh was pouring his emotions into words for 'Ashu' on a Facebook post titled ‘Resilience of Mr Ashish Nehra'.

Before getting active on Twitter, Sehwag praised Nehra's performances in the shortest format of the game, whenever he got an opportunity.

As soon as the match got over, grand celebrations started for the Hyderabad franchise.

The veteran seamer is helping his new IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad to secure a spot in the qualifiers.
