The Office of President in a press statement on Thursday evening said that President Bhandari reappointed Oli as Prime Minister in his capacity as leader of the largest political party in the House of Representatives as per Article 78(3) of the Constitution of Nepal. President Bhandari will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Oli at a ceremony at Shital Niwas on Friday.

Nepal plunged into a political crisis on December 20 after President Bidya Dev Bhandari dissolved the House of Representatives. She announced fresh elections on April 30 and May 10 at the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli, amidst a tussle for power within the ruling party.

Nepal President dissolved Parliament on PM Oli's recommendation. She announced mid term polls for April-May next year.

Nepal's cabinet on Sunday (December 20) recommended the dissolution of the country's parliament. The decision to dissolve the Parliament was taken during an emergency meeting called by PM Oli. The meeting was attended by the council of ministers.

The lawmaker had earlier defied her party's decision to unanimously endorse the constitutional amendment to revise Nepal's map to include three key places from Indian territory.

According to the exclusive documents available with Zee Media, China has occupied about 11 areas adjacent to Nepal, but the Oli government has maintained a silence over. 

The committee went ahead with the seven-year provision after the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) took a decision to that effect on Saturday.

The Lower House of Nepal's Parliament on Saturday unanimously voted to amend the Constitution to update the country's new political map, laying claim over the strategically key areas of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura along the border with India.

Nepal lawmakers had recently endorsed a proposal for considering a Constitution Amendment Bill meant to validate the controversial map. The Bill seeks to validate the new map of Nepal by revising the map in the national emblem.

Earlier on May 30, Nepal's Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shivamaya Tumbahangphe had tabled the bill for discussions at Parliament to amend the constitution to update the country’s map. 

The Left alliance has won three parliamentary seats under the First-Past-the-Post system for which votes were cast in the first phase of the parliamentary and provincial assembly elections.

 Polling began in Nepal on Thursday morning to elect a new parliament and also the provincial councils for the first time after the promulgation of the constitution in 2015.

The election of a new Prime Minister has been necessitated following the May 24 resignation of incumbent Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.

Nepal's House Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar on Thursday prorogued Parliament, leaving the fate of the second phase of local body polls unknown and undecided.
